Rosewood Jewellery Box, a generous size with a lovely grain (Circa 1890-1900)
A lovely sizeable rosewood jewellery, workbox or for small sewing pieces with a lovely grain on the top
Original mother of pearl cartouche on the top
Original mother of pearl escutcheon
Original lock , alas no key
Original solid brass hinges (see note below)
Lined with vibrant fine red velvet and complementary printed marbled paper
Size of box is 29.5cm x 22cm x 13cm
Removable tray depth 2.5cm
Storage below is 5cm
French polish finish and blue baize/felt on the base
The box is almost immaculate
A truly lovely box would be ideal as a 'first' jewellery box
NB I am always honest about any issues, the lid although has 'stop hinges' they don't stop! In other words the lid doesn't stay upright however this doesn't detract from the lovely box that it is. The price is slightly lower because of this and the lack of a key.
