Victorian Rosewood Jewellery Box: Mother of Pearl Inlay and Pewter Stringing
Lovely Victorian rosewood jewellery, sewing or cufflink box, fully restored.
All original pewter stringing on the top and the front
Original mother of pearl cartouche on the top as are the small rounds,
Original mother of pearl escutcheon (see below)
Solid brass hinges (stop hinges)
Original lock with working key (it works very well)
Lined with dark blue satin and complementary printed marbled paper known as Turkish Spot
Removable tray depth of tray is 2.5 cm and the storage depth underneath is 3.5cm
The grain on the box is beautiful
Size of box is 30cm x 22.5 cm x 11cm (H)
The finish is French polish and the base has green felt/baize.
NB There are a couple of veneer repairs, these are on the front left hand side of the box and on the side of the box (left) and the escutcheon on the front has had a repair, I did not want to take it out and cause any damage these slight faults are commensurate with age. Please do look carefully and zoom in.
